Decorex is one of the annual design shows which we always make a point to visit because of the huge variety of furniture, fabrics, lighting etc being exhibited. Also, it’s a great opportunity to catch up with existing suppliers and see new products in the flesh!
Here are some of the stands that caught our eye:
We’d seen coloured bathroom suites for the first time in a while at CP Hart’s “Mini Milan : Highlights from Salone del Mobile Milan 2016” a few months ago, however coming across The Water Monopoly’s 6 colour range bathroom suite at Decorex sparked up conversation – the blue bathroom suite seems fashionably retro but we debated whether the yellow suite was dangerously close to looking a bit dated…? We were happy to hear that you can mix and max coloured taps and legs with white basins and baths, making them easier on the eye yet still adding a quirky element.
The glossy lacquered finish on Self’s furniture caught our eye from afar – Self design studio restore vintage furniture with their signature piano-like lacquered surfaces in striking colours. We were delighted to meet Self a second time at Tent London (part of The London Design Fair) where we had the chance to sit down on their vintage loveseat which has been lacquered in a stunning shade of powder pink.
We love these rugs – which make a strong visual impact with their large scale zig-zag in braided jute.
Beautiful ceramic lighting from Lyngard, available in a stunning range of colours and shapes.
A huge variety in all things to do with door handles, hooks and cabinet fittings – these toy car cabinet fittings are great for a child’s bedroom. Changing cabinet fittings and door knobs can be an inexpensive way to update a piece of furniture.
A quirky selection of pendant lights, floor and table lamps – many are vintage inspired. We love the clever exhibition stand too with the black & white painted furniture, which showcases the lighting beautifully. Very theatrical!
