Our client in Bounds Green wanted to add personality to a new flat and needed particular help creating a study/guest room out of a spare room.  Working within a tight budget, we advised on key furniture pieces to invest in.

Study / Guest room

A spare room has the potential to fulfill various purposes – be it a study, music room, kids' room etc. whilst also being able to transform into a guest room when needed.  This was the case for our client in Bounds Green, who wanted a multipurpose room that could be used as a study, guest room and also provide extra storage.  We wanted to create a space that comfortably suited all our client’s requirements however also looked contemporary and organised.  Firstly we played around with the floorplan to optimise storage keeping in mind the footprint of the sofa bed when in use.

Once we felt that we’d found that best solution, we put together a moodboard of colours, textures and furniture pieces to create a calm and modern atmosphere.  We introduced blackout roller blinds in a shot silk fabric to soften the space whilst also providing privacy and a duck egg wallpaper with a metallic pattern as a way to bring colour and texture into the space.

The Design Process

Living Room

As the living room looks onto a busy main road, we fitted sheer curtains for privacy that lets in light underneath blackout curtains that adds warmth and brings in a large scale pattern.  Our client likes metallic colours so we created a colour scheme of golds and rich accent colours which you can see in the alcove paint colour and rug.
