How to determine your home interiors budget and stick to it - Podcast Show Notes S4 E8

Our latest podcast episode is about budgeting for your home interiors project. Furniture, lighting, accessories, decorating and other labour costs...

Deirdre and I discuss how to work out what’s involved so you can be realistic about what it’s all going to cost (before you splash out on any impulse purchases!)

We chat about spreadsheets - I tell Deirdre what’s on mine and how I am adding things up for a particular project. Is £10K too much to spend on a living room? It’s very easy to get to that figure. But the key is in the detail of itemising, and tweaking accordingly as you source ideas and get quotes for the various aspects of the work.

Don’t forget about delivery costs, assembly costs and do you need help from a professional to hang a heavy mirror or some shelves?

Spreading out purchases - can you borrow or find temporary smaller items on Freecycle or Olio perhaps, and focus on one or two bigger purchases upfront, such as a sofa or a bed? Good budgeting can help with planning ahead too!
