We wanted to update our website with a new look and improve the way in which people navigate our website so for the past few months, we’ve been designing, tweaking and testing our new interior design website which we hope you like.
This refurbishment project in Hampstead produced some dramatic before and after photos which we thought we’d share below. Our brief for this Victorian terraced house was to improve the dynamic between the kitchen and the dining space, re-instate period features and update the furniture and colour scheme throughout the ground floor. I’ve been reading the GoodHome Report, with huge interest.
This is a major new international study which has been undertaken by the Happiness Research Institute and the home improvement company Kingfisher Plc (who own B&Q). The report looks at the impact of our homes on our overall happiness and wellbeing. A key finding is that the home is significantly more important to our happiness than our income or job. Size, location and home ownership have far less impact on happiness than we think.
I was chuffed to be invited to take part in Hayche Furniture’s ‘In Conversation with…’ Q & A series for their blog. There are some quirky facts about me here that I have never had the opportunity to put in writing before!

A few weeks ago Little Greene Paint Company got in touch and I’ve just been for a very exciting visit to their Chelsea showroom on the King’s Road. They have a fantastic events space on the lower ground floor where I will be running some interior design workshops.
In June I got a phone call out of the blue from Halifax Bank to ask if I would be interested in running workshops there. Interior design workshops in a bank wasn’t an idea that I had thought of before I must admit….but after popping in to see the space and meet the local events manager I was sold on the idea!
Since setting up our interior design studio almost 10 years ago, we have worked with over 250 London homeowners at various stages of their projects. Not everyone needs or wants the ongoing help of an interior designer, but we know that many appreciate some professional guidance and advice at certain stages of a refurbishment or redecoration project, which is why we have set up Designer's Table.
Many of us associate IKEA furniture with our first experiences of independent living because of the unrivalled prices on offer. Their low costs are such a dominant aspect of their brand identity that it can sometimes overshadow another important quality to their furniture: good design. Simple, form follows function design.
We’ve become accustomed to seeing confident use of colour in public spaces (see our previous post) and this seems to be filtering through to our homes as the positive effects of colour become more recognised and sought after. We’ll explain a few points to take note of when deciding on wall colours for your home and look at examples of colour tones that are well suited to our British climate.
We’re often asked to develop a colour scheme for a property, in fact it’s something we do quite a bit of these days. But what exactly is a colour scheme and why is it useful? We look at some interesting uses of colour in a couple of our favourite North London eateries and explain the technicalities of a colour scheme proposal.
